Kidlet Hilarity #23

This issue of Kidlet Hilarity is 90% brought to you by David - ha! He is quite the hilarious guy, and very aptly named (David Isaac means beloved laughter.) Enjoy!

David thought we were going to skip reading the Bible, so he said, "But then we will shrink, shrink, shrink!" Another day, he yelled at Daddy, "Do you want to shrink, shrink, shrink?" because he thought we were skipping our prayer time! I guess those lessons from our Preschool Choir songs did sink in after all!

David pronounces the words 'trees' and 'cheese' exactly the same. The other day, I repeated or figured out something he said, and he responded, "Ebaskaly." I finally figured out he was saying 'exactly'! :)

David went to sit in his Daddy's lap, "because I've known you a long time, Mama."

Zachary, talking about Doritos- "I can't believe they can make corn into something that tastes this good."

David loves to talk about "When I was widdle" and "When I was two year olds."

Zachary: "I'm so impatient for my birthday to be here. I want you to order it on Amazon Prime."
Natalie: "Okay, then it will be here in two days."

David was pretending to work for the king, making him mud pies, "so I won't get put in the 'Dungeon of De'pair'".

David: "Your pizza looks so handsome, Mommy."

David singing the blessing at mealtime: "Almond, Almond" instead of "Amen, Amen." He actually thought the blessing ended with the word Almond for some reason! :)

After the almond incident, Zachary prayed and said, "God, thank You that David is so funny."

David calls lasagna 'wawanza'.

David: "Zachary, close your ears with your hands like this" as he puts his hands on his ears. Apparently he didn't want Zachary to hear what he had to say. :)

Natalie: "I can't decide between being a lead singer when I grow up, or an artist."
David: "I can't decide between being an artist, a zombie, or a policeman. Or an artist who draws zombies."

David calls Publix 'Pugwix'.

David gets really excited when he's the only one of the kids that's obeying, and he dances and sings this little song that goes, "I'm obeying right now! I'm obeying right now!"

Zachary saw that our cashier at our Aldi store had a name tag that said Emmanuel, so Zachary asked him if he was Emmanuel Sanders (a Broncos player). He was sweet about it, laughed and said, "No, wouldn't that be nice?" :)

David likes to say, "No way, Hay-zay!" when he's asked to do something.

One night David and I were playing some kind of game against Natalie, Zachary and Daddy, Something happened where Natalie got a minor injury, and so I was hugging her. David objected, saying, "Don't pat her! Her is on the other team!"

One day when someone other than David was having a moment (or throwing a fit), David looked right at them and announced, "Satan is happy now." :)

David, referring to my favorite pajama pants that Joel gave me for Christmas, "Mama, why you wear dese pants every night? They need to be washed!" :) You can tell he's heard that about his clothes, can't you?

A couple of weeks ago, the kids and I went on a walk around the neighborhood - Natalie and David were riding their bikes, and Zachary chose to walk and talk with me, so we were walking behind the two of them. Natalie and David crested a big hill in front of us, and as Zachary and I approached the top of the hill, David came back up to us, with tears in his eyes. "Oh, David, did you get hurt?" I asked him. "No," he cried, "but Natalie did. She fell down, and someone is taking her!" Poor Natalie had fallen over on her bike, and a sweet neighbor who owns a golf cart and a kind teenage neighbor had helped her up and taken her to give her a ride home, and poor David thought she was being kidnapped - he was so upset!! She ended up with a scraped up hand and a sore wrist, but she was fine! The fact of how concerned David was just brought me to tears, though - he was such a good helper to come back and tell us! :)

Family Update!

Natalie is really starting to be quite the social little bug - she remembers our staff friends from camp, and will go up to them and hold her arms up so they pick her up, and she's even getting much more comfortable going up to 'strangers' at camp, so that's fun for the campers. Her favorite word is still "mine!" but her newest words are "na-na" for bunny and "za-za" for pizza!!! :) I love the pizza one, I make her say it all the time and then she thinks she's going to get pizza....I'm such a mean mommy. :) She loves to 'neigh' for horses or cows & anytime we're driving down the road, she will yell out, "Neigh! Neigh!" if she sees any horse-ish kind of animal. :)

Zachary and Natalie moved into the same room this week, which has been...um...exhausting. The first few nights, they did NOT go down well at all & were in there talking until 10 pm. Natalie will sleep extra in the morning if she's tired, but Z was up at 6 & would NOT go back to sleep. So I had two tired & grouchy kids on my hands for the first few days. The last 2 nights have gone better, though, with Natalie going to sleep right away & then Zachary and I read a couple of books together and then he goes in & has been so tired that he hasn't even disobeyed - he's gone right to sleep, quietly. So I am very thankful for that. :)

Z was reluctant to go to story time at the library this morning -it's funny because he's very outgoing, with his peers, and with adults, even people who are strangers, at camp and church - but both of those places are pretty much an extension of home for us. At the library story hour, he sits on my lap, instead of on the floor with the kids - while Natalie goes right up to sit with the kids! :) On the way to the library today, Zachary declared that he did not want to go to story time, and he was NOT going to have any fun. I said, "Well, honey, that's a choice. You can choose to have fun or not." After we arrived home, I asked him if he had fun, and he laughed and said, "Yes! I did - I accidentally had fun!" :) He does really like to do the crafts they have, and then they bring out toy cars & trucks, and by then he usually joins the other kids to play. :)

16 days until Baby Boy is due! Nothing new on that front - still big & pregnant, no progress or dropping to show for being so close...but my dr. said she wouldn't let me go too far past my due date before she would induce me, so, though I'd like to go on my own this time, I'd be happy with that at this point (and for sure once I'm at my due date!) :) Of course my hips are sore, etc. but I really do feel like I'm doing well for being this far along, and I'm not having too many of the 'practice' contractions yet, so I'm VERY thankful for that fact. :) I got all of his darling little clothes washed and folded & put away in his room, and now I just have to get his crib in & get it ready & put his monkey stickers on his walls. :) Oh, and pick out a name - ha! That's kind of important, and nope, we haven't decided yet. :) I should probably pack a hospital bag at some point, too...honestly, it still seems so far away but it's really just a few DAYS! Crazy! :) I AM getting really excited, though- I can't wait to meet him and see what Zachary & Natalie think about him, too! :)

I'm so thankful for all three of my little sweethearts - they do bring so much joy to each day, and I can't wait until all three of them can play together & just multiply the joy even that much more. :)

Tot School - Last Two Weeks

Once again, it has been two weeks since I've posted Tot School! This past week was somewhat crazy, with trying to get into a 'camp routine', and being involved in some unexpected ministry myself! So I never got Tot School posted. So here are a million pictures of the stuff we've been up to! As I said, we've been eating meals at camp. Here's Z enjoying a peanut-butter-chocolate-graham-cracker-sandwich for dessert: (no, we don't make him clean his plate!) :)

Here he is, messy again - trying his first s'more (made in the microwave). :)

He cleaned up by playing with soapy water in the sink while (and after) I washed dishes this week.

He loves to watch Sesame Street and Barney, and often repeats songs he learns from them. Here he is dancing with Barney. :)

His aunt sent him this 'Light-a-queen' dry-erase board, combining two of his current loves, so he's enjoyed drawing on that.

erasing is hard work...
We played with Z's Flip Along Fun book this week - I don't think I've posted about this - but I won it in a giveaway a couple of months ago! It is such a fun learning activity!

Each page has different animals on it, doing a different activity, and you make a story with the animals you choose - also, you add the animals to make the right number, and learn about math while having fun! For now, we usually play 'match the animals' - we find a page we like on the right, and then look for the animals that make up that picture, then read the story. :) It is a rather ingenious book, I would recommend it for teaching pre-math and early addition!

As always, Z loves to play with his Melissa and Doug underwater animals puzzle:

One morning, we had a 'bike wash' on the porch. He enjoyed washing his bike/trike with a wet rag and a bucket of soapy water. And, yes, he's wearing a pajama shirt. Every day he asks to wear his favorite Thomas the Train pajama shirt 'around da house'. So this one day I let him.

washing the bucket very carefully...

Z practiced cutting this week - so far, he uses both hands to cut with his little scissors, but he occasionally tries to use just one hand. He helped me cut some coupons off of a pop box...

and then I let him go to town on this Oriental Trading catalog, he had fun with that for about ten minutes - a nice, quiet activity!
We counted along with some goldfish with Zachary's Goldfish counting book. (Um, except we only had the goldfish's cheaper cousins, the whales, so they had to do. They worked fine.) :)

We did some painting, on the porch.

Z's favorite part was rinsing his brush out and watching the rinse water change colors. :)

We made a robot - you can find the instructions here - he is cut out of a cereal box, wrapped in foil, then we glued on wiggly eyes & taped on the arms & antennae. Also, Z colored on the foil with markers, but it didn't work well - I would let him use Sharpies if we did this craft again. With close supervision and no clothes on. :)

As part of the summer staff, we all got these cool glasses from a friend - well, Z broke his, but Natalie won't wear hers, right? So here we are, showing them off. :)

My Two Tots

I SO love watching my little ones interact - it is just SO fun!!! Here is Zachary swimming his new fish bank from his aunt in front of Natalie. She is raptly watching him, as usual. Also, her totally adorable headband was MADE by her aunt for her - SO cute!!! :)

And here is Zachary tickling his sister! :) Awwwwwwww.... :) She loves this, too, obviously!

My Tiny Tot

Well, my tiny tot is six months old now!!! (insert loud sobs here) For her six-month-birthday, I asked Z what he thought she would want to do or have, and he said that he thought she would like to wear a crown. So we made her a pink construction paper crown, and here she is - happy half-birthday, Natalie! Does she look happy enough?

She is a very happy girl. She rolled all the way over here by Zachary's tools, and she is thrilled with herself!

She also went 'swimming' (dipped her feet in) the pond this week, which gave Mommy an excuse to take this picture of my little chunker in her swimsuit. And she totally hated the cold pond water.

And here's one last picture of my happy little muffin!!! Such a cutie! :)
